Are you looking to build a career with a difference?

Do you want to train for a recognised award with Ireland’s leading Builder’s Merchant?

Grafton Merchanting ROI are proud to be launching Ireland’s first ever Builder’s Merchant Traineeship in their Chadwicks, Heiton Buckley, Davies and Panelling Centre branches.

The QQI accredited programme will be run in conjunction with the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board (DDLETB).

Grafton Merchanting reached out to DDLETB earlier this year when they saw the need to create a pipeline of skilled entry level Trade Sales Advisors within their branch network. We have always had programmes for current colleagues looking to develop and progress and now the Traineeship fills a clear gap we had for entry level candidates wanting to start a career as a Trade Sales Advisor.

This can be a difficult industry to get into as Trade Sales is a highly skilled profession, so this programme will open the door for a new generation of Trade Sales Advisors. All we look for is a great attitude, all the training you can imagine will be given in everything else.

There are fantastic career opportunities available within Builders’ Merchanting, from Trade Sales to Management and all of the support functions within a branch, we are always looking for great people with the right attitude to drive our business forward!

Learners will spend half of their learning time completing classroom-based modules covering Customer Service, Retail Sales Skills, IT Skills, Health and Safety and Stock Control.

On the job learning will then take up the remainder of the course time with learners assigned to mentors in their chosen branch.

If you feel you have what it takes to build a career in Trade Sales then apply on the Fetch Courses online portal and quote course reference no. ‘230662’ or call 01 427 5400 and speak to Linda for further information.

YESS is a new work experience scheme targeted exclusively at young jobseekers who are either long-term unemployed or face significant barriers to employment.  Work placements will be of three months duration with participants engaging in 24 hours work experience over per week (over three to four days).  Participation on the scheme will be wholly voluntary and participants will receive an allowance of €229.20 per week for the duration of their placement.

Commenting at the launch of the scheme, Minister Regina Doherty said:

“I am very pleased to announce the launch of the Youth Employment Support Scheme. Although unemployment figures have fallen, youth unemployment remains a concern. The new scheme, along with many other employment support measures, demonstrates the Government’s ongoing commitment to helping our young people break the vicious cycle of ‘no experience - no work or no work - no experience’. The scheme will provide young people with the opportunity to learn important work and social skills in a supportive environment while on a work placement, thereby helping them to increase their employment prospects.”
