Working in Ireland

If you don’t have a job, you can use JobsIreland.ie to help you find work in Ireland. JobsIreland.ie is the Public Employment Service of the Department of Social Protection. We provide jobseekers with free job search and tools to create a profile to match their skills and experience with jobs.

This service includes a network of staff providing expert guidance and resources. They can help you to create your CV and find your ideal job using the latest technology.

Working in Europe

Jobsireland.ie is part of EURES – the European Employment Service – which is a cooperation network formed by public employment services across Europe. All paid jobs advertised on JobsIreland.ie and from public employment services across Europe appear on the EURES jobs website at eures.europa.eu. 

If you are looking for a job in Europe, you can use EURES Ireland and the EURES portal to:

  • access a database of jobs across Europe,
  • find information on living and working conditions in each EU and EEA country,
  • include your CV in a European database which can be seen by European employers,
  • avail of job mobility supports (such as an interview or relocation allowance) if you are moving for work to another EU or EEA country, and
  • take part in onsite or online recruitment events across Europe (see europeanjobdays.eufor more information).

If you would like to work in Europe you can now choose to share your JobsIreland CV/Profile on the European Job Mobility (EURES) Portal. There is a new option on your Jobseeker profile where you can consent to switch on this feature after agreeing to the Terms and Conditions and Data Protection statement for jobseekers consenting to transmit their CVs /Profiles to the EURES Portal. You also have the option to withdraw this consent and stop sharing at a later stage.

Make your Qualifications Easily Understood in Europe

If you want to apply for a job using qualifications awarded in a different country, you can use a Europass CV to show your qualification levels. Europass is a standardised CV template used across Europe. It can be completed in 26 languages and lets potential employers see your skills, work experience and qualifications clearly and easily.

Working in Northern Ireland (NI)

If you are interested in working in Northern Ireland, JobCentre Online, the public employment service website in Northern Ireland, contains all current vacancies notified to job centres and jobs and benefit offices there.  

Jobs in the Irish Public Service

You can find out about jobs in the Public Service on publicjobs.ie. This is the website of the Public Appointments Service (PAS), an independent, centralised recruitment, assessment and selection body for the Civil Service, Health Service, Local Authorities, the Garda Síochána, Prison Service and other public service bodies.

The work of PAS ranges from large-scale recruitment and selection competitions for administrative, technical and professional jobs to tailored selection processes for senior professional and management positions.

Jobs in the European Union Institutions

You can find out about  jobs in the European Union (EU) Institutions at EU Jobs. This is a section on the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs and is aimed at supporting you in the process of applying for a position in the EU Institutions
